Chase Birdies is golf tournament software that costs $1 per player. Organizers set up the event and roster, players and teams enter scores hole by hole, and anyone can watch a live public leaderboard — no paper scorecards and no app to install.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does golf tournament software cost?
- Chase Birdies costs $1 per player for the whole event. Add every player you enter on the roster and the total is that number of players times $1. There is no monthly subscription and no per-transaction fee, and team members count as players.
- When do I pay, and what am I billed for?
- You pay when you publish the event. The bill is the number of players on the roster at that moment, at $1 each, and that count is the cap for the event. If you need more players later, "Add more players" adds slots at $1 each; unused slots are not refunded.
- Do players need to download an app?
- No. Players open the event link in a web browser and enter each hole's score. Spectators also just open a link — no app, no account.
- How is a score entered?
- Hole by hole, as each hole is played. Totals and totals vs par update automatically, and a score can be corrected at any time.
- Does it work for teams, or only individual players?
- Both. An event is either individual (one score per entry) or a team event. Team events can use one combined score per team, or score each member's own ball and optionally combine those scores into a team total. Best Ball takes each team's lowest score on every hole.
- What formats can I run?
- Scramble, Shamble, Scotch, Golf, and Best Ball, with Stroke Play and Match Play as scoring modes. Any format can be scored live.
- Can everyone watch the leaderboard?
- Yes. The leaderboard is public to anyone with the link, sorted by total with the leader at the top. You can also protect it with a 4-digit PIN.
- Can I hide the leaderboard from the public?
- Yes — choose PIN protection at setup and the board requires a 4-digit PIN. Tournament chat can be protected separately with its own optional PIN.
- Can I import my roster instead of typing names?
- Yes. Paste or upload a CSV: column A is the player, column B is the team for team events. You see a preview before applying; teams are created automatically and rows missing a team are flagged and skipped.
- Do I have to type every par?
- No. Look up the course to auto-fill par for each hole, or enter per-hole par manually.
- How do spectators find my tournament?
- Find My Event is a public search by tournament name, course, or state; you can also share the leaderboard link directly.
- What do I get after paying?
- The event goes live and its leaderboard becomes shareable, with hole-by-hole scoring for every player or team on the roster.
